TOWN OF WAVERLY, VIRGINIA – An EF-1 tornado may have splintered trees and destroyed physical items but it has not impacted the Town of Waverley’s resolve as residents, neighbors, and complete strangers have come together to help rebuild the town after Wednesday’s fatal storm that killed three, including a two-year-old boy.
Members of the Virginia National Guard joined men and women around the town to help clean up debris left after the storm that was part of a low-pressure system that touched off numerous tornadoes from the Deep South, through the Mid-Atlantic and up the Eastern Seaboard.
Thursday, Governor Terry McAuliffe visited communities impacted by the storms, spending time with first responders and reassuring those who lost possessions and, in some tragic cases, loved ones.
